It's not summer yet, and it certainly doesn't feel like it, but according to Hollywood it's blockbuster season.  Summer blockbuster movie season used to be Memorial Day weekend, but now starts the first Friday in May.

"Iron Man 3" made it's international debut last weekend and banked $195 million.  It opens today (May 2) in the U.S. and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau.  It's rated PG-13.

"Silver Linings Playbook" ...Jennifer Lawrence won a Best Actress Oscar for playing a widow who agrees to help Bradley Cooper try to win back his cheating ex-wife, in exchange for him being her partner in a dance competition.  Robert DeNiro plays Bradley's dad and Chris Tucker plays his best friend.

 

"Broken City"...Mark Wahlberg plays a private detective who's double-crossed and framed for murder, after the mayor hires him to investigate his cheating wife.  Russell Crowe plays the corrupt mayer, Catherine Zeta-Jones plays his wife, and Jeffrey Wright is Wahlberg's former boss on the police force.

 

"The Guilt Trip"...Seth Rogen agrees to haul his mother along with him on a cross-country business trip to try to sell a new product he's invented.  Eight tedious days of comedic mother-son bonding ensue.  Barbra Streisand plays his mom.

 

"The Details" stars Tobey Maguire as a guy whose obsession with killing raccoons in his backyard leads to random chaos, including cheating on his wife with their neighbor.  Elizabeth Banks plays his wife.  It also stars Ray Liotta, Laura Linney and Kerry Washington.
