Iowa Man Killed in Clay County, SD, Crash

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Gene Allan Stinton, 63, of LeMars was eastbound on State Highway 46 in a 2002 International Truck around 2pm.

At the same time, Tom Franklin Laidlaw, 53, of Stilt, Colorado was southbound on State Highway 19A in a 2000 Peterbilt truck.

The Patrol says Laidlaw stopped at the stop sign and continued south through the intersection, where his vehicle was struck by Stinton's truck.

Troopers say Stinton had the right-iof-way and no stop sign.

Stinton, who was wearing a seat belt, died of his injuries.

Laidlaw was not wearing a seat belt and had minor injuries.
