A recycling project by the City of Sioux Falls is getting a financial boost.

The South Dakota Board of Water and Natural Resources has awarded a $10,000 Solid Waste Management Program grant for a project that aims to enhance recycling in the city park system.

State officials say the effort, costing a total of $20,600, involves buying water-resistant container lids and educational decals for the existing recycling containers in the 75 parks in the city system.

Organizers say the project will help keep moisture out of the recycling containers, make the recycling containers more easily recognizable and also increase recycling participation in the city parks.
