Go ahead and fidget. It may be annoying to others but new research suggests it's actually good for you - especially if you have a desk job. It could save your life.

A new study in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine found that women who sat for long periods of time have a lower mortality rate if they reported themselves to be moderately to very fidgety, compared to occasional fidgeters.

The results could give new hope to people stuck in chairs that they can do something simple to ward off the long list of ailments a sedentary lifestyle can cause, from obesity to heart attack and stroke.
