Ice Fishing Institute This Weekend in Sioux Falls

If you're an angler, usually when the month of November comes rolling around you start thinking about ice fishing season. This year, thanks to Mother Nature and the warm temps she continues to serve up, not so much.

The above average temps are still not gonna stop the Dakota Anglers from hosting their Ice Institute classes this weekend in Sioux Falls.

The two-day session runs Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5, at Central Baptist Church located at 3102 W Ralph Rogers Road.

During the two-day period, they'll be going over the basics of the sport, as well as showing off the latest and greatest ice fishing gear and how to use it.

Todd Heitkamp with Dakota Anglers recently made a visit to our news gathering partners KDLT TV and said, the two-day class is great for beginners and veterans alike.

According to Heitkamp, "The sport has come a long way from sitting on a bucket with a line in the lake, and it's always good to stay up to date on what's changing."

Heitkamp also talked about ice fishing safety, and what an important part it plays during the two-day ice fishing session.

Everyone who attends gets an added bonus, Heitkamp says experts will share a few tips on when the best days to fish are.

The Ice Institute runs from 5 PM to 9 PM on Friday and 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturday. Find out how to buy tickets and get more information here.
