I mentioned on the show that there weren't any songs with my name in it and I was proven wrong. A nice listener texted in about the song "Natasha" by Rufus Wainwright. The song came out in 2003. I can't believe I hadn't heard it until now!

While I have heard of Rufus Wainwright, I must admit, I don't know much about him or his music, but if he wrote a song with my name it, I love him!

Rufus Wainwright is American-Canadian and is 44 years old. He has released seven albums of original work.

I know most women named Roxanne or Brandy are so over people singing their name sake songs to them, but I would love it!

Back to "Natasha" by Rufus Wainwright. I looked up the song and it is hauntingly beautiful. It is kind of sad, but I can dig it. Upon further research, the interwebs told me that Rufus is good friends with actress, Natasha Lyonne, who you may know from American Pie or Orange is the New Black. Well, Natasha has had addiction issues, which she has spoken about publicly. So the story goes that when Natasha was in the midst of her downward spiral, Rufus Wainwright, felt helpless in trying to support his friend.

The chorus is pretty simple:

Natasha
All I can do
Is write a song for you
Natasha
Oh Natasha

His sorrow really shows in the simplicity of these lyrics. He didn't know how to help her, all he could do was write a song.

But all is well that ends well because Natasha has been clean and sober for years now and Rufus wrote a pretty awesome song. And I will share in the excitement because my name is Natasha!
