It's watermelon season. A refreshing, sweet and juicy treat on a hot summer day. Have you ever brought one home from the store or farmers' market and it wasn't quite ripe?

What a disappointment.

Don't ever let that happen again. This video will show you what you need to do to pick out the perfect melon.

In addition to what the man in the video says, I've also heard you should look for a waxiness around the stem. This means the melon is sweet and the juices are starting to ooze out. You should also look for a dull color. If the dark green lines on the melon are shiny, the melon will not be ready to eat.

Remember, you can do more than just eat watermelon. You can make a watermelon keg for your next party and impress your friends.
