A fire that broke out on Thursday afternoon (May 11) has left two Garretson families without a place to live.

The fire started in a home in the 600 block of Center Avenue in Garretson and quickly spread to a neighbor's house next door, totally destroying both structures.

Both families lost the greater majority of their possessions and are now in the process of trying to put their lives back together again.

Fortunately, people here in the Sioux Empire are coming together as they always do to help out both families in their time of need.

The Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson has set up two separate funds for the families affected. In addition, KDLT News is reporting that people can also make donations under the Ellis family and the Eide family at First Bank and Trust at 644 North Main Avenue in Garretson.

There has also been a GoFund Me page setup for the Ellis family as well. Anyone wishing to make a cash donation can do so here.
