If you've heard the show this week, you have probably noticed my voice has been kind of crappy.

I went out on the town Saturday night, voice was fine Sunday, and then Monday to the present I've been talking like I've smoked for forty years.

I know it is just temporary, but it is annoying. Not to mention, it affects my job. Now, I guess I should have known better and maybe not gone out on Saturday, but I really didn't get that crazy. Plus, Sunday was fine. Talk about a slow reaction.

Now that it is a couple days in, I'm thinking I've had enough. Let's try to get rid of this. So I went to my Google machine and found some home remedies for a hoarse voice.

According to top10homeremedies.com ginger eases a hoarse voice. Ginger soothes the mucous membranes around the voice box and decreases inflammation. You can eat thin slices of raw ginger or heat it up in water and drink that. Fun fact: I just saw on Carpool Karaoke this week that Selena Gomez does ginger shots every day. Well, I guess that's how she keeps her voice so pretty.

Another home remedy is honey. Honey coats the throat and reduces inflammation. One tablespoon of raw honey a few times a day can fix things right up.

Apple cinder vinegar is another option on the list. This article says the vinegar helps reduces pain and discomfort, which my throat isn't sore, I'm just raspy. However, apple cider vinegar as properties that fight infection and can decrease chances of laryngitis. One reason of vinegar with warm water drank a couple times a day is good for you or mix equals parts apple cider vinegar and water to gargle.

Which brings us to gargling. This is something I've been told to do with a sore throat or anything really that ails you. Straight up salt water gargle a couple times a day. One teaspoon of salt in warm water should do the trick.

And lastly is cayenne pepper. This is a new one for me. Cayenne peppers can soothe an irritated throat, reduce pain and swelling, and fight off throat infection. There are a couple different ways you can go about using cayenne pepper. Mix ½ or one teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder with one tablespoon of honey and eat the mixture off a spoon. Or you can add ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper and the juice of ½ lemon to a glass of warm water and drink it slowly.

So lets see, I think I have everything at home to try these tricks except fresh ginger.

I should be back to normal in no time!
