The South Dakota Highway Patrol responded to a three vehicle crash that occurred southeast of Lennox on Thursday. 

The Patrol says a truck driver from Wichita, Kansas was backing a semi and trailer into a driveway located on Highway 44.  During the semi-truck’s backing maneuver, a car driving east collided with the rear end of the trailer followed by another car that struck both the first car and the trailer.

Three people sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries in the crash.  49-year old Kevin Sunderland of Hurley who was alone in his vehicle, 53 year old Bobby McCartney who was driving the second vehicle and passenger 53 year old Deanna McCartney both of Parker were hurt with no word on their condition.  The driver of the semi-truck, Richard Wheeler, was not injured in the crash.

During the incident, Highway 44 was closed and traffic was diverted around the scene.
