One year ago, U. S. Attorney Brendan Johnson made a vow to combat sex trafficking in South Dakota.

On Wednesday, Johnson issued the 2013 report that indicated the fruits of his promise with a number of convictions in sex trafficking cases.  Despite the success of his office over the past year, Johnson indicates the need to be vigilant against human trafficking.

Also in the review was an accolade presented by the Administrative Office Statistics Division of U.S. District Courts ranking South Dakota in the top 20 of most productive Federal District Courts in 2013.

In addition, relations between the U.S. Attorney’s office and South Dakota’s tribes looks to be improved with the addition of outgoing South Dakota Secretary of Tribal Relations J.R. LaPlante to the fold.
