Last Friday's Copper Lounge building collapse in downtown has stunned the city of Sioux Falls. In the aftermath, many residents are still attempting to come to grips with the fact that tragedy like this one has struck our city, as they grieve for the families and businesses affected, and search for ways to show their love and support.

If you're looking for different ways to show your generosity and support, KDLT TV is reporting that multiple GoFundMe pages have been set up to help those affected.

A GFM account has been established for Emily Fodness and her family. Emily is the young woman that was rescued from the rubble Friday afternoon along with her families dogs. The entire Fodness family was living in an apartment above the Copper Lounge and now are without a permanent residence. The money raised from this account will help the family replace all their belongings that were lost in the collapse.

Another GFM account has been set up for the family of Ethan McMahon. Ethan was the construction worker killed as a result of the collapse. Ethan a former Marine Corps veteran, and father, leaves behind a loving family. Thanks to the generosity of a heartbroken city, his GFM account has already raised over $18,000 dollars in just a few days to help cover the expenses his family will have.

Many throughout the downtown business community are pitching in to show their love and support. Like Coffea Coffee Shop, who immediately set up a memorial for Ethan in their store after the collapse happened. Since then, the store has been filled full of notes of love for Ethan and encouragement for his family.

Larry Werner, the owner of Maxwell Food Equipment also wanted to do his part. Werner, set up a Phillips Avenue Employee GFM account to raise money for those who work in the businesses affected. Employees working at the businesses touched by the collapse will be without income for an indefinite period of time and Werner wanted to help them with their bills and finances.

Another example of the outpouring of community support, is the one taking place on Tuesday, December 6 (2016) at Chevys Fresh Mex in Sioux Falls. Chevys is donating 20 percent of their sales on Tuesday to the McMahon family. The fundraiser will happen from 11 AM to 10 PM at Chevys located at 2801 South Louise Avenue.

In the days and weeks to come, I am sure there will be even more fundraisers and support from members of a loving community doing what they can to help during this difficult time.

As we find out about the various fundraisers and events, we will pass that information along both online and on air on every Results Radio station.
