With many families trying to return home after the July 4th weekend, many traveling northbound on I-29 about a mile and a half south of the Trent, South Dakota exit, had some unexpected problems.

Due to the heat, I-29 buckled completely across the roadway, exposing the rebar.  Because of the exposed rebar, about six or seven vehicles experienced flat tires.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol was at the scene directing the slow-moving traffic and assisting the crew that was called in to repair the Interstate.
