Hartford Flags at Half-Staff for Elementary Counselor Funeral
Today in Hartford, you will see Flags will be flying at half-staff in honor of Hartford Elementary Counselor Kier Murphy.
His funeral is today at West Central High School at 2pm.
The community of Hartford was shocked and saddened to learn that their beloved Elementary Counselor Kieron Murphy died unexpectedly Saturday morning.
Minnehaha County Sheriff Sergeant Preston Evens confirmed that authorities responded to a medical emergency and Mr. Murphy had passed away. He had been suffering from influenza A.
West Central Superintendent Jeff Danielsen said grief counseling is available now by contacting the school at 605-528-3217. Students will have additional counseling resources when they return from Christmas break on January 5th.
Danielsen reflects on the loss of Mr. Murphy: "We are just saddened and shocked to near of the news. Our sympathies go to the family. He will be missed as a counselor, co-worker, employee and friend."
