The wait is finally over. Harrison Smith and the Minnesota Vikings have come to terms on a brand new contract that makes Smith the highest paid safety in the league.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says that the contract is worth $51.25 million over five years.

Smith was drafted 29th overall out of Notre Dame in the 2012 NFL Draft. In four seasons he has 320 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 12 interceptions, three forced fumbles, and four defensive touchdowns. The new contract puts him with the Vikings through the 2021 season.
