Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher + Mark Hamill Set to Appear in New ‘Star Wars.’ Maybe. (Definitely.)
Whether you hate or love the idea of more new ‘Star Wars‘ movies (we know, those prequels put the fear of God in you), at least some exciting news has arrived for everyone: Original main cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill have already signed on for the sequels.
At least according to George Lucas, who can’t seem to stop stealing everyone’s thunder.
“We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison — or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on,’” Lucas told Bloomberg Businessweek before pausing and adding, “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that.”
“I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them. I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”
George, we don’t think bikes pedal backward that fast. Even if they’re on Tatooine.
None of this has yet been confirmeded by director J.J. Abrams — who also directs the ‘Star Trek‘ films, something that’s confused even President Obama — but if anyone knows anything about the franchise, it has to be George Lucas. Or Disney. Or Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. Or Admiral Ackbar (who probably just thinks the whole thing is a trap anyway).
When previously asked whether she was returning to the series, Fisher quipped that she would be playing an “elderly” Princess Leia convalescing “in an intergalactic old folks’ home.” Of course she was joking, but then she slapped on a pair of earmuffs, stole a Jet Ski and eccentrically performed a one-woman show on a space cruise ship. So who’s to say.
