Harbor Freight Tools Coming To South Dakota

Harbor Freight Tools was founded in 1977 and are the nation's leading tool discount retailer. Harbor Freight Tools will be opening their first South Dakota store in June in Rapid City and are looking for retail space or a place to build in Sioux Falls as well.

According to Ryan Tysdal from Lloyd Companies, Sioux Falls has been a bit of a tight market for a retailer like Harbor Freight Tools who operate 500 stores nationwide: “In recent years, national retailers like Harbor Freight have found bargains around the country in markets with huge surpluses of vacant commercial space. Because Sioux Falls didn’t see nearly the vacant retail space as other markets, it has created a challenge in securing an acceptable site here.”

“We are looking at existing retail spaces as well as available land for ground-up construction.”

According to their website, Harbor Freight Tools stocks over 7,000 items in categories including automotive, air and power tools, shop equipment and hand tools.

The closest Harbor Freight locations are Sioux City, Omaha and Minneapolis.
