Grove, Sarehkhani Earn Final Weekly Summit League Indoor Honors
VERMILLION, SD — South Dakota pole vaulters Emily Grove and Kevin Sarehkhani received the season’s final Summit League Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors in a league release on Tuesday.
Grove, a junior, collects her third league Athlete of the Week honor after vaulting 14 feet, 9½ inches to place sixth at the USATF Indoor Championships on Sunday. That mark places her third on the collegiate all-time performance list and leads this year’s Division I performance list by over two inches. She also leads the Summit League by over seven inches and broke the previous USD pole vault record of 14-7½.
Sarehkhani, a senior, earned his first Athlete of the Week honor by setting a new personal-best height of 16-10½ during the USD Twilight last Friday. He upped his previous best by two inches, and now ranks second in the event on the Summit League performance list.
South Dakota’s track and field teams will compete at the Summit League Indoor Championships in Fort Wayne, Ind., starting on Friday.
