A few Minnesota Gophers hockey players will be going for gold.

Head coach Don Lucia, and his former assistant, Bob Motzko, will help lead Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. For Team USA, two members of the Gophers, forward Hudson Fasching and defenseman Brady Skjei, will get to lace up their skates.

The games begin this morning in Sweden, as Team USA will host the Czech Republic. Games can be seen on the NHL Network, and NHL.com. Germany and Canada will also play the Americans before the medal round begins on January 2.

The bronze and gold medal games are set for January 5.
