The Minnesota Twins will have a couple of hometown All-Star's next week at Target Field.

Glen Perkins, a Minneapolis native, will be making his second straight All-Star Game, and Kurt Suzuki is going for the first time. Meanwhile, Phil Hughes and Brian Dozier were left off the American League squad.

Did the voters and coaches get it right?

Perkins is 3-0 with a 3.22 ERA and 48 strikeouts. As Minnesota's closer, he has 20 saves in 23 save opportunities.

In his first year with the Twins, Suzuki is worthy. He's hitting .306/.363/.400 with a two home runs 18 doubles, and 34 RBis.

As for the snubs, Hughes has been the Twins ace since signing as a free agent last winter. He's 8-5 with a 3.95 ERA and has an astounding strikeout to walk ratio (94:11). He is scheduled to pitch on Sunday, July 13, meaning he wouldn't be available for Tuesday's game, but a nomination still would have been nice.

Robinson Cano (.320, six home runs, and seven stolen bases) was voted in as the American League's second baseman, and Houston's Jose Altuve (.337, 26 doubles, two home runs, and 38 stolen bases). Meanwhile, despited being left off the roster, Dozier is having a fine season of his own, and I believe he should be on the team. He's only hitting .234, but has 16 home runs, 12 doubles, and 15 stolen bases. The Twins second baseman is potentially on pace for a 30-30 season. That's remarkable. After all, I'm sure the home crowd would love to see Dozier in Minneapolis for the All-Star Game.

For the final vote in the American League, fans can select Dallas Keuchel (LHP, Houston), Corey Kluber (RHP, Cleveland), Rick Porcello (RHP, Detroit), Garrett Richards (RHP, Los Angeles Angels), and Chris Sale (LHP, Chicago White Sox).

When I saw this list, I wondered why aren't their any position players up for the final vote or even Hughes? I mean, since the fans vote, Minnesota fans should have a little say in the process to see some of their best players compete with baseball's best.
