South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Law Enforcement Get Body Cams
If you run into a park or game cop you may notice a new doohickey on their uniform.
The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks announced in a press release that its law enforcement officers will now be equipped with body cams.
“Our officers already do a tremendous job,” said GFP department secretary Kelly Hepler in a statement. “It is our hope that the implementation of body cameras will ultimately make their jobs easier, and the work they do to serve and protect our natural resources as well as the public’s safety even better.”
One big advantage to GFP officers is that a lot of their interactions take place away from patrol vehicles. In-car cameras don't really help for much of their work.
The GFP joins the South Dakota Highway Patrol and a number of other law enforcement agencies across the state in using the devices.
