I pride myself on being a fairly savvy consumer.  I read Consumer Reports, check out their website and other consumer websites several times a week, pay attention to and internalize consumer news whenever I see or hear it and in general educate myself on those issues.

So, I am quite aware that just about every company producing something for consumers, from tortillas to toilet paper, saltines to softener sheets, have been downsizing the contents and charging more--or giving you less product and talking about the "rollback price".

Never-the-less when I made this discovery completely by accident, it still cheesed me off! I guess just seeing the proof-positive on my kitchen counter in front of me was exasperating.

I had just purchased a couple of cans of this tomato sauce at what was a pretty good sale price, (or so I thought), got them home, took a couple cans downstairs to put in the pantry and noticed an older can on the shelf. I brought it upstairs to use and set it next to one of the newer cans. As you can see for yourself. . .I got a "reality bites" smack in the head!

I realize these are different varieties of the sauce, but the thing is, all of them had been reduced to the same size from the larger contents.

I know I should not be surprised, but maybe you will be.
