Amazingly, there are those who wish to tangle with rushing water.  The Minnehaha County Sheriff advises against such daredevil tactics.

The region has been inundated with record rainfall and more possibly more in the forecast.  Sheriff Mike Milstead is dumbfounded with thrill-seekers who wish to test the waters in a kayak.  “They’re showing up at the river wanting to go and it’s like, ‘Do us a favor and leave us your next of kin information on your car.’  It’s treacherous with a lot of timber rolling down the river and it’s not a pleasant ride for even the experienced kayaker.”

As far as flooded roads in Minnehaha County, Milstead says the Valley Springs area was hit the hardest with Brandon close behind.
