A Flandreau man died Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 about 12 miles south of Brookings.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 81-year-old Leslie James Schrecengost was southbound in the driving lane around 5:30pm, while a pickup driven by a Tennessee man was also southbound in the driving lane.

Troopers say Schrecengost's vehicle may have been moving slowly when the pickup struck the rear of his car and rolled, coming to rest in the driving lane.

Schrecengost's vehicle was forced into the west ditch and came to rest at the bottom of the off-ramp.

Schrecengost was not wearing a seat belt and died of injuries from the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger, also from Tennessee, were wearing seat belts and received minor injuries.
