The vote was unanimous for the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Board to ban alcohol in Van Eps Park.

The five board members in attendance discussed the proposed ordinance change at length during their regular meeting which was held at the Morningside Community Center on Tuesday.  The decision does not immediately change the park rules.

First, the Sioux Falls City Council will consider the proposal and if enacted would take effect some time in October at the earliest.

The proposed ordinance also includes banning alcohol in Tower Park which is also in downtown Sioux Falls though most of the police calls have been serviced in Van Eps Park.
