[Updated: According to Activision's own Dan Amritch, the trailer is a fake, albeit one that was good enough to fool even him. We've pulled it for now, and will post the real trailer as soon as Activision releases one.]

A new game based on The Walking Dead television show is coming later this year from Activision, and based on the first footage, there's a lot of work to be done.

Not to be confused with our Game of the Year, Telltale's The Walking Dead, Activision and Terminal Reality are developing a new first-person shooter based on the AMC television show. Centered around the Dixon brothers, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct puts players in the shoes of fan-favorite Daryl as he and his brother Merle make their way through Georgia. The game will act as a prequel to the television show, though few other story details have been revealed so far.

To ring in the new year, a new trailer for the game has been released, though it leaves much to be desired. Very little of the game looks impressive, with everything having a very plastic tinge. The world itself doesn't look very interesting, and what little footage there is doesn't really give a great sense of how TWD:SI will play. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
