It must be summer in Sioux Falls!  The red glow of fire pits, the greening of the bike trails, and the oranging of the Sioux Falls city streets.  I love this time of year!

Here's a little heads up on some of the road construction going on around the city.  If you've traveled on West 41st Street in Sioux Falls you may well have encountered the project to widen 41st Street from Ellis Road to Sertoma Avenue.

No through traffic will be allowed as they expand that section of 41st Street to four lanes with a center median, turn lanes, and bike lanes.

Other projects that are just kicking off include:

Kiwanis Avenue: Southbound lane on Kiwanis Avenue will be closed south of 41st Street.  This project should wrap up by Wednesday afternoon.

Western Avenue Traffic Control: Today and tomorrow crews will be doing some sewer pipe work along Western Avenue between 13th Street and 14th Street.

Minnesota Avenue: The outside northbound lane on Minnesota Avenue will be closed north of 11th Street.  The closure will be removed by the late afternoon of each day. The work is anticipated to be finished by Saturday April 19.

Kiwanis Avenue: Today temporary northbound lane closures will occur on Kiwanis Avenue just south of 12th Street. Traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times. The work should be finished by late afternoon.

10th Street and Sycamore Avenue: Today work begins on the intersection of 10th Street and Sycamore Avenue. There will be various lane closures between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to install temporary signals at the intersection.

This work is part of the $2.5 million dollar 10th Street & Sycamore Ave. intersection improvement project.  Project completion is anticipated around Oct. 3, 2014.
