A man who was wanted for running afoul of his Federal parole requirements led police on a chase during the mid day on Thursday before being captured.

According to a report from Officer Sam Clemens, the suspect was spotted near 41st and Minnesota by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms about 11:30 AM. The suspect fled in his car, but crashed near 41st Street and 4th Avenue.

The man fled on foot and officers combed the adjacent neighborhood advising residents to remain inside with the doors locked. Due to the close proximity of Lincoln High School and Robert Frost Elementary School, shelter-in-place orders were issued for the safety of the students.

Around noon, the suspect was found inside an unlocked garage near S. 7th Avenue and E. 38th Street. A K-9 unit was deployed during the pursuit and assisted in the capture.

Thirty year-old Joseph Kenneth Henry was arrested for 2nd Degree Burglary, Hit and Run and Aggravated Eluding. The Argus Leader also cites that Henry was treated on location by EMT’s for a dog bite.
