False Abduction Report Lands Man in Jail after Standoff at Sioux Falls Truck Stop

A man is in a Sioux Falls jail today after claiming his daughter was abducted at gunpoint and forced inside a semi-truck on Saturday, (January 28).

KDLT TV is reporting the incident took place around 3:00 PM on Saturday at Love's Truck Stop near Cliff Avenue and I-90.

According to authorities, the man contacted police to report his daughter had been forced inside the truck at gunpoint. The information provided resulted in authorities dispatching SWAT and CNU (Crisis Negotiation Unit) teams to the scene.

After surrounding the truck with guns drawn, for nearly three hours, authorities were able to locate the man's daughter safe and unharmed in another community upon further investigation.

The man, who was still at the scene of the standoff, was arrested and transported to the Minnehaha County Jail on a false reporting charge.
