As I usually do when my Minnesota Vikings are in the playoffs, I came to work today wearing my 2010 50th Anniversary Chad Greenway jersey. I went to the gym during my lunch break and as I took it off in the locker room and saw the back of it and something dawned on me that made me a little sick -- 'Greenway' rhymes with 'Green Bay.' I couldn't believe I never thought of that before.

During my workout I was racking my brain trying to think of how many times Greenway has won a game in Green Bay in his six career. I could only think of one win for sure - Brett Favre's first year with Minnesota in 2009 when the Vikings swept the Packers. I looked up the Vikings schedule for each of the seasons that Greenway played in Green Bay (excluding 2006 when he missed the entire season with a torn ACL). In those six games the Vikings are 1-5.

However I noticed something that gave me a little hope. The Vikings and Packers have only met once in the playoffs -- January 9, 2005. The game was played in Green Bay as the Packers were the #3 seed with a 10-6 record while the Vikings, like this year, squeaked into the post season as the #6 seed, but with only an 8-8 record. The Vikings won that game on the road 31-17. Sure, they got killed by the Eagles the next week, but they still sent the cheeseheads home from Lambeau as losers.

Green Bay is a 7.5 point favorite Saturday night and the forecast is calling for a chance of snow and freezing rain. I am sure Greenway isn't worried. For the farm kid from South Dakota, it won't be the first time he had to do work in front of a bunch of pigs in nasty cold weather. SKOL!
