The Elk Point-Jefferson School District was in lockdown this morning.  The Union County sheriff's department says the lockdown was a precaution after authorities were tipped off to a person of interest in the area.

School Superintendent Brian Shanks says the lockdown lasted from approximately 8:45 to 10:45 Wednesday morning.  Authorities say they caught the person and there was no imminent threat to students.

The name of the man and possible charges are not being released, but authorities say they're related to some issues and events taking place in the county.
