Eating Crickets Healthy?
While watching an episode from one of my favorite TV shows I saw a man pitch his cricket protein product to the Shark Tank.
The man with the cricket protein product Chapul was from Salt Lake City Utah. I recently visited Springdale, Utah and found some flavored crickets from another company.
According to MensHealth.com insects provide the highest quality protein on the planet. The question is can you handle the taste?
"Nutritionally, insects are quite excellent," says Arnold van Huis, Ph.D., an entomology researcher at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. "In a number of instances, they're even better than normal meat." Ounce for ounce, crickets provide more than twice the protein of beef. Plus, that protein is the best kind, containing all nine essential amino acids. Crickets also pack nearly five times as much magnesium as beef. -Menshealth.com
I popped a couple crickets from the box, and due to taste preference I'm going to have to stick to the old fashion powder for my protein.
