In an attempt to find his girlfriend, a man lost his cool and did some serious damage with a tire iron.

Sioux Falls Police say the man went into an apartment building around 12:30 AM Wednesday on the 100 block of South Duluth Avenue. Officer Sam Clemens said the first encounter with one of the residents was normal.

“Originally, our suspect came up to the apartment, knocked on the door and seemed to think that his girlfriend was inside that apartment. The renter let the man inside and take a look.”

Shortly after being led outside, the suspect became distraught and Clemens reported that he came back with the tool.

“The man started yelling for his girlfriend and started hitting walls and putting holes in them (with a tire iron). The suspect kicked in an apartment door. They estimated the damage (to be) over a thousand dollars.”

Nineteen year-old Harvey James Williams of Sioux Falls was arrested for First Degree Burglary, Intentional Damage to Property and Underage Consumption.

No one was injured during the rampage and the girlfriend was not found.
