The day after a storm rolled through Lake Poinsett, Andy Wicks waited for daylight and sent his drone in the sky to capture video of the damage.

The national weather service issued the tornado warning on Saturday July 17, 2016 at 10:22 PM.  The Warning included Lake Poinett and Estelline South Dakota

A trained weather spotter notified authorities of a funnel cloud.  Radar indicated the potential of ping pong sized hail.

The Hamlin County Sheriff's Office Released the following statement:

Emergency crews from the Arlington Ambulance, Arlington Fire Department, Badger Fire Department, Lake Norden Ambulance, Lake Norden Fire Department and the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the west end of Lake Poinsett for a number of campers that were flipped over from the severe thunderstorm that went through the area.  On scene, crews found that two people were trapped inside the camper located along US Highway 81.
One person was taken to the hospital by the Lake Norden Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries obtained in the incident.
A total of four campers were reported flipped over but only one was occupied during the storm.  Damage was also done to a cabin, a large amount of docks and a number of boats were also flipped over and damaged.
