The first annual Downtown Riverfest featuring live music, art, food & beverages, retail vendors and more is set for this Saturday (August 17, 2013!)

The inaugural event will run from 5:00 – 11:00pm along the downtown riverfront from 8th Street to south of 6th Street.

"This event is a community celebration, and will showcase the revitalization of the downtown riverfront," DTSF Communication Coordinator Brienne Maner said. "There will be something for literally everyone to enjoy."

The evening's talent line-up is also a celebration of talented local and regional musicians. Minneapolis native Cole Allen, South Dakota Rock & Roll Hall of Fame great Jim Groth, and Sioux Falls up and coming rock and rollers, Peace By Revenge, are set to perform on the Riverfront Amphitheatre stage in front of Cherapa Place.

About Cole Allen

Minneapolis native Cole Allen's powerful vocals caught the attention of Sioux Falls JazzFest 2010 headliner Corey Stevens, who Allen credits for taking him under his wing and being a mentor. Cole's dynamic on-stage presence is defined by his ability to play his guitar behind his back and over his head. Cole tours regularly with more recent Sioux Falls favorites, Sena Ehrhardt Band, and he's sure to make more waves down by the Big Sioux as he rocks the riverfront in August.

About Jim Groth

Jim Groth has been playing guitar since the early 1960s, starting with surf bands before the British invasion. He sang and played with rhythm and blues band The Pilgrims and rock band The Starfires, both inducted in the South Dakota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Along with R&B and rock, Groth played bluegrass and folk, going on to write gospel and folk music. Through the years, Groth has continued to sing and play electric and acoustic guitar in the studio and on stage. Presently, he performs solo and in two groups, blues band The Stallions and Celtic band Trefoil. He also plays regularly on South Dakota Public Broadcasting's radio show, Rock Garden Tour. Groth will perform solo and also jam with Peace By Revenge at Riverfest.

About Peace By Revenge

Led by the gritty and gorgeous vocal stylings of Sioux Falls native Greyson Schultz, Peace By Revenge (PBR) is a gathering of local songwriters, instrumentalists, and musicians who have spent a huge part of their lives creating hand-constructed music that allows you to forget all of the things that drag you down throughout the day.  PBR puts community first, which is why they are the perfect fit for the Riverfest celebration.

Embracing The Arts

Unique lighting design is a key element to the evening, as LED illumination will be prominent along the riverwalk, and a fireworks display will close out the evening.

Local artists will display and demonstrate several art mediums, and a few surprise elements will be incorporated.
