Don’t Let a Scammer Take Your Money!

A scam that scares people into thinking their electricity will be shut off is being reported again in South Dakota.

The State Attorney General's office says the callers claim to represent local utility companies.

They tell consumers they owe money, and that their electricity will be shut off if the past-due bill isn't paid right away.

Attorney General Marty Jackley says if you get such a call, hang up and call your provider immediately to ask about the status of your account.
