Former LA Dodgers manager Don Mattingly has found a new home as he and the Miami Marlins have finalized a four year deal for Mattingly to become the manager of the Marlins.

This comes just weeks after Mattingly and the Dodgers mutually agreed to go in different directions.

Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria has known Mattingly for a long time dating back to his playing days with the Yankees as Loria has been a part time resident of New York for a while and was at one time a minority owner in the New York Yankees.

I believe that Mattingly will never experience the same success he had in LA now with the Marlins unless Loria allows Mattingly and the front office to recreate history when they essentially bought two World Series titles before eventually going on a fire sale.

They tried to recreate that magic two years ago with big time free agents and trades accompanied with the hiring of Ozzie Guillen and we all recall how that resulted in a dumpster fire effect.

I would of rather seen Mattingly go to the Washington Nationals in which I think he would of had more success but Bud Black was hired on Wednesday and it seemed at that point that this deal was inevitable.

Mattingly will walk into a clubhouse that is much different than the ones he used to play with and much different than the one he just got done managing in LA as the Marlins are much younger and a lot less accomplished.

From 2011-2015, as manager of the LA Dodgers, Mattingly tallied a record of 446-363 during the regular season and a 8-11 record in the postseason. The Dodgers failed to make the World Series at any point during Mattingly's tenure as manager.
