    Put away electronic devices!

Not only do the little blue lights from things like iPads and cell phones trick your mind into thinking it's daytime, but extra lights from things like bright alarm clocks and lights shining through a window can prevent deep sleep. Cut back on the 'light pollution' by turning off gadgets 30 minutes before you go to bed at night and turning the alarm clock away from your face.

    Find the right sleeping temperature.

Many people are uncomfortable when they go to bed because of the temperature in the room. Trying to sleep when you are too cold or too hot does not help someone get a good nights sleep. Set your thermostat between 65 and 72 degrees for a better sleep.

    Read a book.

This is something your grandma might have told you to do, but it does work. Reading can help you power down from a hectic day. But remember, you don't have to FINISH the book! Because then, you are up all night reading!

This is an important one! No matter how tired you are during the day from the restless sleep the night before, don't nap! Napping during the day might be the reason why you can't get to sleep at night.
