Degrassi: The Next Generation is being cancelled after 14 seasons.

I have to admit the Canadian teen soap totally sucked me in for at least seven seasons.

A lot of actors and musicians got their start on Degrassi, including Nina Dobrev from The Vampire Diaries, Shenae Grimes from the 90210 reboot, and probably most famous, Drake! (He'll always be Jimmy Brooks to me.)

Degrassi's slogan for a long time was 'It Goes There' and boy did it.

There were teen pregnancies, cancer, abusive relationships, abortion, rape, mental illness, eating disorders, substance abuse, dangers of online dating, LGBT characters, and even a school shooting.

I remember thinking Degrassi was different from all other teen shows because all the kids were from different 'cliques.' It didn't focus on just the group of cool kids or the group of outcasts, it had just about every demographic represented. Sometimes the kids meshed well and sometimes they didn't. Just like in real school.

And who could forget their theme song?! "Whatever it takes! I know I can make it through!" Let's take a trip down Degrassi theme song memory lane.

Probably the most memorable scene in Degrassi history, for me, was the school shooting. Rick, who had been bullied at school after he was abusive to his girlfriend, Terri, brought a gun to school after a very public prank at school. He shoots Jimmy because he thinks Jimmy set him up, but really Spinner and Jay did. And Spinner and Jimmy were supposed to be best friends. (I hated Jay. Every character he associated with ended up in trouble. He was like Degrassi poison.) Can you believe it?

Jimmy was in a wheelchair after that. I always wanted Drake to feature some of his cast mates from Degrassi in a music video! It would make me so happy. According to his Instagram, he still keeps in touch with a few of them.

I'll be honest, I haven't watched the show in the last few years, but I think I might have to DVR the end, just in case some blasts from the past show up.

Degrassi will end its run with a two-week finale event. Starting off with an hourlong special, "It Goes There: Degrassi's Most Talked About Moments," with retrospective from cast, creators, and fans airing on July 20th. This all leads up to the July 31 series finale,  with new episodes each day of the week, ending on July 31 with the final episode. Set your DVRs!

Update: As of June 9, 2015 it has been announced that Degrassi will find a new home on Netflix in 2016.
