Of all the live concerts to play around the world in the last month, only a Billy Joel show on Long Island was bigger at the box office than Def Leppard, Styx, and Tesla at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. The 'Piano Man's' August 4 concert at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum was attended by 16,971 fans, grossing $1.7 million. That show was the highly anticipated final concert in a building that is scheduled for major renovations, and featured guest appearances from Paul Simon and Kevin James.

Next on the list of top shows, according to Hot Tours, was the August 8 triple header of Def Leppard, Styx, and Tesla in Sioux Falls. A crowd of 9,890 was in attendance that night, with a total gross of $751,855at the box office. Blur's July 25 show in Sydney, Australia (8,871/$665,627) was third on the list. Sam Smith's August 15 show in Austin, Texas (10,009/$646,383) was fourth. Phish's August 2 show in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (7,786/$436,016) was fifth.
