The Helpline Center, along with MetaBank, congratulates Sandy Keeley on being named the December 2016 Volunteer of the Month.

Sandy volunteers two mornings a week, plus two Saturdays a month, at the Dougherty Hospice House. Sandy has volunteered over 1400 hours since starting in 2012.

She helps with direct patient care such as baths and transfers. She also delivers food trays, fixes hair, does nails and will serve a patient in any way requested.

Helen Block from Avera@Home Hospice says everything Sandy does is done with a huge helping of love and care and humor.

“Sandy epitomizes the heart and soul of volunteering. She wants to give back but feels she is the one who receives just as much in the process. She shares her love and fun personality with patients, their families, staff and other volunteers. Her positive attitude is contagious and brings a smile to anyone’s face. Sandy is always willing to help out in any way and is very deserving of this recognition.”

The Helpline Center and MetaBank are pleased to present Sandy with a framed certificate, a gift from MetaBank and a letter of appreciation from Mayor Huether. She will also be honored again at the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards banquet on May 11, 2017.
