An elderly woman is dead after a house fire in Sioux Falls on Friday.  Jeff Helm, Fire Rescue Division Chief tells KSOO Radio: "About 6:25am this morning, fire crews were dispatched to 31st and Duluth area for a structure fire.  On arrival, there was smoke on approach.  When they entered the structure, it was smoke filled.  The firefighters discovered one fatality (the only person in resident at the home). The victim is identified as 77-year old Margaret Solveig Steen.

Helm says the cause of the fire is under investigation. "We have investigators on the scene who are piecing through the structure and trying to find a cause."

Helm says this week's ice storm has impacted the number of 911 calls they receive.  "All emergency responders are being taxed pretty well.  But, we're handling it!"
