Daycare Kids Donate to Cure Kids Cancer
A beautiful surprise was delivered to the Sanford Children’s Hospital during the Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon.
A group of 40 children from First Baptist Preschool and Daycare stopped by the castle and dropped off a donation of over $260 Thursday morning. Much of it was cash, but many of the kids brought in quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies.
Melissa Anawski, a teacher at First Baptist, said the idea came from one of their teachers.
“She had the idea last year during the radiothon and wrote it down so she wouldn’t forget,” Anawski said. “So over the last couple of months we’ve had jars in the classrooms and kids brought in whatever they could. Even pennies!”
The giving did not end there. Kids from the west side Apple Tree daycare came and dropped off money. That was followed by the afternoon kids from First Baptists.
