Saturday morning I was doing a remote broadcast for a Data Shred Event. While I was there doing the broadcast and helping out I couldn't help thinking about how important our identity is to our financial well being. It's critical.

It seems like our important information is floating around everywhere. Your name, address along with certain phone numbers can get criminals a long way. The Shred Event was a good reminder to tear things up that go into recycling and to either burn or shred other important documents.

While I was at the event my oldest son Jake through out a barb that went something like this. He said, yeah it's great that their getting all those documents shredded and their probably using 1234 for a password on their phone or the same password on their bank account they had 5 years ago.

The event was a good start. Protect your identity by shredding or burning important documents you no longer need. Oh, and it might be a good time to take a look at some of your critical on line accounts too and set up some new passwords.
