I drove through a downpour of rain this morning. I-90 was a wet, wet ride to Mitchell. At times, it was all the windshield wipers could do to keep up with the rain coming down. As I was driving through the rain I couldn't help but wonder how the day would go.

It didn't take long to find out. I had just arrived and started catching up with Doc Barz and the crew from Northwest Veterinary and Supply when the announcement came over the loud speaker system. 'Due to rain and lightning and forecast for the remainder of the day, Dakotafest will not be held today. We will have the complete show on Wednesday and Thursday.

I have yet to talk to officials to see if this is the first time it's ever happened. But it-WAS WET.

Wednesday will be a better day. And Thursday too. Now, with the recent rains in the area, expect a huge day on Wednesday. After all, it's too wet to work out on the farm! See you there! Here's the forecast for the Mitchell, SD area for the rest of Dakotafest!

Wednesday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 71. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Wednesday Night
