Cleveland’s Mike Miller Gives his Thoughts on a Kevin Love Potential Trade

Cleveland’s Mike Miller joins Jeff Thurn on Monday’s edition of Overtime to discuss the chance of Kevin Love going to the Cavaliers.

Miller recently signed a two-year contract with the Cavaliers and talks about Kevin Love possibly teaming up with James, Kyrie Irving, and himself:

“You know I would. Obviously, it’s one of the things where the trade is a tough one to make a call on for either side. If you are Cleveland, or what’s being discussed out there to get rid of young talent that has potential. If you are Minnesota, you are giving away a guy that averages 22 and 12. You know? So, it’s one of those things where the trade does make sense, but it’s tough. If Andrew Wiggins and (Anthony) Bennett have a chance to be really, really special, but you know you have Kevin Love so I think it fits. It’s a tough call to make.”

How did Miller make his decision to reunite with James?

“It’s one of those things where obviously it worked out. He opted out of a deal in Miami and decided to go to Cleveland. Me being a free agent this summer, I had a few options, but and it just turned out that Cleveland was the best fit this summer.”

Did Miller know LeBron’s decision to go back home before most people?

“No, I assumed, but at the same time I have so much respect for the guys in Miami and the Heat organization that I didn’t want to dig into too much. I wouldn’t of been mad if he went back to Miami, but I think you have to do the best thing for you and your family. It just so happened with Cleveland and I jumped on board.”

How does Cleveland’s roster compare to Miami’s roster when he won back-to-back titles on South Beach in 2012 and 2013?

“It’s tough for me to compare right now. I mean I haven’t been in here there to see the young talent and see them play together. Obviously with LeBron, you always put yourself in consideration. It’s definitely going to take more veteran guys, guys that have been through the wars. I think that is what Cleveland is trying to right now. And I know LeBron is a big advocate of that, getting guys that have been there. They obviously have a ton of young talent in Cleveland. The future is definitely comparable, it’s just a matter of everyone staying healthy and adding the right pieces at the right time.”

Miller is coming to Sioux Falls this Saturday at 5 p.m. for the his annual Night of Hope to benefit Sanford Children’s Hospital.
