A lot of factors go into choosing PEOPLE magazine's Sexiest Man Alive -- everything from visibility in the media to how much handsome was bestowed upon you at birth. And, oh yeah, a rockin' bod definitely doesn't hurt.

But this year, the factors considered seemed to come down to one: The level of attractiveness while wearing a tie without a shirt and doing it beautifully. Which is probably why 'Magic Mike' star Channing Tatum is reportedly slated to take the Sexiest Man honors this year.

It must be that chiseled, Cro-magnon face that set the judges' panties aflutter.

According to reports from Gossip Cop, the former male stripper turned actor turned fictional male stripper turned restauranteur (follow all that?) is set to be announced as 2012's Sexiest Man Alive in an upcoming issue of PEOPLE magazine.

The weekly has refused to weigh in, saying only, “We never comment on who the Sexiest Man Alive is until the issue is revealed.” At which point it's pretty redundant because the whole world already knows anyway.

Tatum has been featured as one of Hollywood's hottest hotties before but will get to join the ranks of former honorees Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Brad Pitt and George Clooney -- assuming PEOPLE doesn't change its mind in a fit of pique before the magazine hits newsstands on Nov. 14.

Mark your Hunky Males of Cinema calendars, kids.
