I recently flew from Sioux Falls, SD to Dallas, TX.  In our seats in the middle of the plane we were offered a refreshing beverage and a small bag of pretzels.

The folks up front in first class were getting something different.  I couldn't see what.  It was too far away.

According to Eater.com:  American Airlines is tapping chef/restaurateur/Chopped judge Maneet Chauhan and pioneering Hawaiian chef Sam Choy, as well as Dallas’s Italian food specialist Julian Barsotti and Michelin-starred UK chef Mark Sargeant, to overhaul the airlines menus.

Like Delta Airlines recently did, American Airlines is making an effort to step up the food quality of it's inflight meals.

Word is the new menus will be rolled out in phases over the next several months and will feature local and seasonal ingredients when possible.

My guess is that these tasty vittles will be available in first class and for an extra fee on the rest of the plane.  Would you pay extra for a gourmet meal on a flight?
