Carmike Cinema Closes This Sunday

This is your last weekend to catch a show at Carmike Cinema in Sioux Falls.  The theatre will close its doors this Sunday, July 14.

The announcement was made about a month ago that the theatre would be closing, but now the time has finally come.

A hotel and restaurant are going to be built in the theatre's place.  Work is expected to start next month on a LaQuinta Inn & Suites that will be built in the parking lot.

Carmike was the only theater chain in Sioux Falls for several years until Century Theaters opened in 1999.

It is the end of an era.
