Damage is high from a weekend rollover in Sioux Falls.

Police spokesman Sam Clemens says officers on patrol near Falls Park around 12:30 Sunday morning saw a vehicle that had rolled and was burning in the 800 block of North Weber Avenue.

A 15-year-old boy who had been driving was pulled by officers from the burning car, and Clemens says he had struck two trees, two breaker boxes and some power poles. That's what caused a large power outage, and Clemens says Xcel Energy crews estimated their damage at $150,000.

Clemens says the teen had minor injuries. He told police he was driving around 70 miles per hour when he crashed, but a witness told officers it was more like 100.

The teen was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with DWI-first offense, reckless driving, no driver's license and no seatbelt.

Damage to the vehicle, a 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo, was estimated at $3,000. The teen driver told police it was owned by his mother's boyfriend.
